History
The Rasheed A. Wallace Foundation was established in 1997 to promote programs that enhance the quality of life for all people, and assist in the recreational and educational development of youth in Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Durham, NC, and other selected communities.

Mission
The Rasheed A. Wallace Foundation’s mission is to promote the interests of its founder by making charitable contributions in communities where Rasheed has a presence. Funding recreation centers, youth programs, athletic teams & camps are central to the foundation’s purpose. Each program promotes social, cultural & academic development for youth.

Guidelines
The Foundation extends charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations in communities where Mr.. Wallace has interest. Preference is given to organizations involved with recreation, athletic, social, cultural and education opportunities to the youths of their community.

Recreation: The Foundation provides grants to recreation centers and private recreation programs to assist in the funding of basketball leagues, tournaments, cultural events, activities, trips, special events and other programs deemed necessary by program directors to develop a well-rounded recreation experience for all participants.

Athletic: The Foundation provides direct financial support to the Hunting Park/Rasheed A. Wallace All Star Program in Philadelphia. This program sponsors teams that travel around the country to compete in national basketball tournaments. These events help participants gain valuable exposure from college coaches and recruiters. Participants increase their opportunities for obtaining scholarships to attend colleges and universities around the country from their involvement with the program. Since this program's inception, each athlete who has participated has received an athletic scholarship to attend college.

Education: The Foundation also provides grants to inner city schools for supplies, materials and equipment used for enhanced student learning.

Social: The Foundation sponsors an annual coat drive in Philadelphia to provide families and individuals coats and other outerwear for winter. Citizens of the Philadelphia metropolitan area donate hundreds of articles of clothing to the drive. This event promotes community fellowship and allows neighbors to lend a hand to persons and families with limited resources.
